When I was young I was fascinated by the idea that old scriptures survived for centuries through the oral tradition - SHRUTHI - It was called in my mother tongue. My grandmother had a lot of these books - The Geeta, which she recited everyday, and the Upanishads that usually remained in my grandparents' study. I never really read much of it, but I always liked those books. Thanks for sharing Dr. Menon.

Dear Red Poet, I am really happy that you are reading the Series of Vedas in order, from the beginning. Thank you so much. Sruti and Smriti are our oldest source of Vedic Knowledge. Your grandmother was a wise lady. Even though you say you have not read much of it, your presence in a house surrounded by Bhagavad Geeta and Upanishads, must have had a silent influence on your spirit.

Human interaction is basically the same as it was in prehistory. At the least, all scripture can be enjoyed as literature and used as insight to the ethos from the time in which it was written.

Old scriptures have been assimilated by many religions. Creation stories, flood epics. It is interesting indeed to learn the minds of the ancients, throughout the globe, that have put their thoughts in text.

Hi Geeta A very noble attempt. Yes, I agree that the Task is arduous. But you will be able to complete it. Congratulations for embarking upon this effort. And all the best wishes to complete it. May I request you to write it as a comprehensive series, steadily progressing, covering all the four scripts, so that you would be able to publish it as a separate book. It will be of keen interest for our readers on ph.
