He was a genius who sadly never got the acclaim in his lifetime. I have this painting in my home.

The Last Note: like the ones by Van Gogh. I don't go to deep, David, but just to inform the most important point.

Still for David: If you use pallet knives, the painting on the canvas shows smooth parts, but with a rough short brush from pig hair (the ones that Van Gogh always used) you get that kind of paintings

One of my favorite paintings, Vincent by Don McLain one of my favorite songs, it spans across many tastes and your portrayal of it was beautiful.

Like Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, Van Gogh is an artists whose mental aberrations gave him a voice unique and distinct from the normal mind. His art shattered the traditions and made him a paradigm of his time. A beautiful tribute to an amazing human being.

The violent images of the stars and moon swaying in the storm of glowing blue light, is a reflection of the painter's inner storm

Part 3. It is said that he wrote, " Just as we take the train to get to Tarascon or Rouen, we take death to reach a star.' Yes the Cypress that connect earth with the skies, actually is the ladder which Van Gogh built for him to reach the stars, the comfort of death… I believe so

Part 2. Maybe he would be counted with Shelly, Keats, Shakespeare, Kaalidasa, Wordsworth and who not…

"If Van Gogh were a poet, what poems he would have written! " Is a question I have asked myself from the time I had read about him and seen images of his paintings…

More info about his paintings: since he only used the rough kind of brushes (that short brush and the cheapest) then his paintings on the canvas was like that. Short and rough.

Last comment: He became like this since he was born on the death date of his brother, so his mother was constantly reminded to her dead son. Vincent became an unstable personality

Continued: BUT when Vincent heard that this brother was dying beacuse of a kidney desease, he became 'insane'. Cut his ear and then he was brought to a hospital (asylum?) .

Only one painting was sold for 60 Francs during his life, but he is not insane. He got his money for food and the rest from his brother who constantly sent him money when needed
