When it is said, or you suspect.
All your plans are gone & wrecked
When you are sad, mad, glad,
Or simply had by something evil or just not quite bad
you may stutter, stammer too,
when you're in a JAM, do you?
reach at length for something potent,
like a ducal regent or a simple missing Docent.
Grab a hold of something rash,
I'm not talking bags of cash or smoking bowls of Turkish hash
or some such spice, that makes your pleasure soar
or roar down canyons as slick as ice.
I'm suggesting that you measure another great dollop out,
and when you whisper or you shout,
grab yourself a great big laugh,
then you'll cut your every woe in half.
CUT THEM, SPLICE THEM, MINCE THEM VERY...
Drown them with a glass of beri beri,
pull its leg and tug their hair
you might just find a gen'rous touch of merriment there
for when they've got you in a box
or the holes have worn through
both your shoes and socks.
Lean right back, and give a chuckle
even though it might bend your strongest buckle
all these things so tough and stringy,
are now no more than a pretty propeller on your beanie,
or a small mustache, a painted over that picture
of the master DON.
Give yourself a hearty laugh,
and sure by the clover in your garden
you'll cut your woes in half
