Bravo great.only politicians shed crocodile tears for the Patriots.
For deceiving the public to vote for them. It is rulers and wannabe rulers who coined the word "Patriotism'. Once we understand ans assimilate the Indian Philosophy of "Vasudhaiva Kudumbakam", all the borders vanish.
Thought provoking poem, when pioneer says it all then what else remains? 5****
Patriotism is a word/idea used by the rulers against their citizens
Well, she believes in a LOT of THINGS, and I cannot prove her wrong. But I don't believe a lot of the 'things'. I give the 'poem' account 5 stars.
AND my wife believes that U.S. industrial 'leaders' (I THINK she said) encouraged some Japanese (and encouraged Hitler also) to declare war on U.S., promising control of TV station to some Japanese.
Could be true! Patriotism does not exist. Money exists
I think the 2nd A-bomb used was Big Boy. I assume the 'rulers' were the Japanese rulers, My wife ALSO believes the U.S. knew Japan would bomb Pearl Harbor, and U.S. could more easily enter the war then.
'urn': a container used for holding ashes of a cremated human (or pet sometimes I think) . It is clever, I think, to use 'Urned' in place of 'Earned', though I not sure it implies Japan 'earned' the destruction.
My wife, a Japanese woman born in Japan in 1949, says she's seen photos of one of the cities hit by an atomic bomb. She claims the photo(s) 'prove' that it was not an 'atomic bomb' which did the damage. [She also disbelieves accounts of 911]
Japanese forget and forgive. Oblivion is the beginning. Hope she knows to read at least Japanese. There are thousands of books (and more material on internet) on the homicide by the US.
I read estimates once about how many military members (I think U.S. ones) would be killed if Japan was allowed to fight until defeated by conventional military methods, including fighting IN Japan.
This is an absurd Trumpian argument, which no man with common sense would subscribe to. Only the white supramacists who consider non-whites as lesser beings have seen it from that angle
'In late July, Japan's militarist government rejected the Allied demand for surrender put forth in the Potsdam Declaration, which threatened the Japanese with "prompt and utter destruction" if they refused.'
' between mid-April 1945 (when President Harry Truman took office) and mid-July, Japanese forces inflicted Allied casualties totaling nearly half those suffered in three full years of war in the Pacific, proving that Japan had become even more deadly when faced with defeat'
I understand what you are trying to say. You are trying to justify the unjustifiable.
You are wrong. " While the Japanese military decided to resume attacks on Allied bombers from late June, by this time there were too few operational fighters available for this change of tactics to hinder the Allied air raids", say's Wikipedia
On WyJuly 1945, US gave ultimatum to Japan to surrender. Before Japan could respond, on August 6, US bombed. It is written in several books citing classified records of the US military that the bombing on a devastated Japan was to "Test" the bombs.
Who supports Japan's role in WW II and the cruelties of their soldiers? Not even the present-day Japanese. But is that justification enough for the crime against humanity and humongous cruelty of the US in using Atom Bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
Many thanks for your 'Note', Unni. I thought 'little boy' might have referred to the bomb. The other definitions were also helpfu. : )
Who ‘earns' from Patriotism? Just the rulers! ! ! Soldiers and other citizens sacrifice their life, their near and dear and their peace for this "sacred cow". It is high time we started to preach "Vasudhaiva Kudumbakam": this world is our family.
Great poem. The lunatics have their finger on the nuclear button. Hope and pray that AI doesn't take over.
Let us hope, David. Let us hope all the borders vanish and the entire universe becomes one single family
The rulers mete out gross injustice to the citizens and exploit the emotion of patriotism to further deceive them. It is time the citizens understand this violation of their rights
Powerful, often patriotism veils another patr-idiotism behind and cruel politics
Very true Alyx. Patriotism is a concept the people in power, whether a king or an elected official, uses to enslave ‘his' people
