" the light blinds me to the light" beautiful. as the elders say " when it rains it pours" one bad thing is usually followed by another and another. but " this too shall pass."
The sound of heavy rain falling on an iron roof at night is the ultimate for me. It happened last night. Baldwin asks God, I think, to make the rain keep falling. A fine 'sound' poem.
I don't believe he is asking for the rain to fall. The rain seems to symbolize troubles/hardships, and he's asking God to consider its immediate effect instead of being blinded by the potential outcomes. The rain might seem whimsical, but it falls with great force and hurts Baldwin. The light refracting through the water is too intense for him to see the good on the other side.
