Until We Meet Again. Poem by Lewis Dever

Until We Meet Again.

Rating: 5.0

The world went silent the day you left,
A hush fell over all, as if time itself had wept.
The air grew thick with unshed tears,
And the earth beneath my feet trembled with fears.

Your voice, now a distant echo, fades,
Like a song that once filled the glades.
But now the melody is lost in the wind,
Leaving only the sorrow that lingers within.

Your chair sits empty, your shoes by the door,
Reminders of a presence that exists no more.
I reach out in the dark for your hand to hold,
But grasp only the void, so cold, so cold.

The days stretch long, an endless grey,
Each moment a reminder that you've gone away.
Yet in every shadow, in every breath,
I feel the haunting presence of death.

They say you're at peace, in a place far beyond,
But here in the silence, I struggle to hold on.
The world keeps turning, indifferent and vast,
While I stand here mourning the days that have passed.

Your laughter, once a balm to my soul,
Now leaves behind a gaping hole.
I try to remember the warmth of your smile,
But it slips through my fingers, like sand through the Nile.

I wander through the days, a ghost of who I was,
Trying to make sense of the because.
But there's no reason, no rhyme, no way,
To fill the emptiness that's come to stay.

The stars in the sky seem dimmer tonight,
As if they, too, mourn the loss of your light.
And though you're gone, and I'm left here to grieve,
Your memory lingers, refusing to leave.

But memories are shadows, and shadows can't fill,
The emptiness that death leaves still.
So I walk through the silence, through the dark, through the pain,
Holding onto the hope that we'll meet again.

A poignant poem. Excellent poetry, the Melancholy feeling fills the air. "memories are shadows, and shadows can't fill" the void you've left. Great write. The rhyme and rhythm of the poem accentuates its poignancy. I am just bowled over. Top score and MyFav
