Unsettling Images
Will our planet live
For our great grandchildren?
Can they be able to have
The luxury of a forest?
Will there still be
mountains and rivers?
What should they be eating?
Will some pills substitute
for their food?
How many animals and birds' species
survive by their time?
How will be the sky looking
Will it be blue or only smoggy?
I shudder at the thought
Of a nuclear or
a biological war
Will the countries come together
To stop the destruction
of our earth?
Who knows,
Given that of man's recklessness
Combined with his greediness
a minor mistake
May land us
in Chernobyl like tragedies
On a far bigger scale!
What earth should we leave?
May be some remnants
Stored in memory chips!
This is the apprehension that has been haunting us. I have already pointed out it in 'Water, Water....'
One of the wonderful attributes of a great Poet is his/her concern for the world and humanity. And this concern is rooted to his/her KINDNESS. Bharati Nayak is a kind of Poet whose wonderful pen can touch the core of humanity.
