You are right. This is surely a 'departure' from your usual work. I like it but think you dont need the final stanza at all. You have already let us 'see' the loneliness there and so you dont need to 'tell' it. And all across America are such lonely places with lost souls swigging a 'last' bottle of good ole 'Jack.'
