Instead of reading celebrity poems I am reading your poems, and there are many like me. That should mean something! Keep putting smiles on faces!
This is a clever poem. It's really a barely disguised attack on our celebrity culture which exaggerates some people's worth - the proclaimed celebrities, of course - while the mass of us are given no recognition. And that is grossly unfair. By including a member's poem along with at least one by an established poet, PH is making an effort in the right direction. But you're right on target pointing out many celebrities act like jerks and get the attention, whereas someone like you doing good works is ignore. Your poem won't change the world, and probably Maya Angelou's didn't either. But what you wrote - tongue planted firmly in cheek - may change minds!
I deeply believe in this poem. Who are celebrities.? ? People who have been vanished from the social scene? We are our own celebrities.
