Wow, I missed this one. It is really how I feel. I always seem to go there when I hear about those who were warned that 'the war' would not be easy, cheap or short. When you look at history, we (our country) would rather send money and words to people who need principles and the human costs that go with them so they can live free (or just eat and have shelter without fear.) We like to be isolated unless we get stung. And then we forget what we are so impassioned about after the sting goes away. Whatever happened to the 'brotherhood of man'. Sometimes I think part of John Lennon's song 'Imagine' is not so great, but parts are so real and prophetic. So many brave men and women have paid a horrible price that day and since for us to be able to watch our MTV (or whatever) . I miss your new poems and your comments. Luckily, I have been 'rationing' my Bonnie Long poems. This one hit the spot. Hope you are still checking in on PH. Perhaps you have found the happiness that you sometimes write is so elusive. I hope so. Your friend......Dan Michaelson
