It took until
I was a mature man
for me to
understand your ways, actions
I didn't respect you
when you were alive
because I was blindly
following my own ego, narcissism
But now as I sit
and ponder the drudgery
of life I realize, comprehend
the true nature
of your accomplishments.
I wish you were here now
so I could say I'm sorry
for my ungrateful ramblings,
my contemptuous dealings.
You were enlightened
in your own way
and I am joyous
that I knew a man
such as you were,
and euphoric that I was
blessed to have had you
as my father.
