The moon so blue
- usually it is said that a ''blue moon'' is the second full moon in a calendar month, but it is not correct, because a ''blue moon'' is the 3rd full-moon in an astronomical season with 4 full-moons. Thus, as a normal year has 4 seasons with 3 months and normally 3 full-moons each, when it happens that one of the astronomical seasons has got 4 full-moons, the 3rd of them is called ''blue moon''.
From here, the saying ''once in a blue moon'', to mean a rare event..
Well, Tony, your title (and poem) made old memories resurfaced.. :)
