Don't make their eyes to weep more
don't make their hearts to pain more
don't make their hopes grow less and less
don't make their optimism reduce its spectrum;
as they have walked into a war where raging fires
from bomb explosions have set their apartments ablaze
compelling them to get out and run in search of survival.

No one cares to know how they feel
no one cares to see what they eat
no one cares to see their sufferings
as a war is a war in all its fury and ferociousness
but how long will they face brutalities
how long will they confront cruelty?

And while soldiers keep losing their lives in crossfire
people keep losing their lives in the gunfire;
and while homes and families keep falling apart
war has become their toughest confrontation in time
as days have turned into weeks and over a month.

Where is humanity and its worth
when man goes on this rampage to kill another man?
where is shelter and neighborhood
when houses and streets have turned into ghost towns?
when will serenity find its way in those boulevards
which were once upon a time so full of liveliness?

How long will people run to find shelter and safety?
when will the sick and the old sleep on hospital beds
and get the help they need?
when will families and children unite and sleep
under one roof in harmony?

when will soldiers pack up their bags and go home?
when will war find its last sunset?
when will peace align in those hearts and minds of leaders
so that they can gift back the serenity and solace
to the people who sleep and wake up in anxiety?
when will the sunrise of solidarity and peace rise up in Ukraine?
