Stop the butchering
stop the massacre
stop the war;
stop the adamancy
stop the encouragement
stop the illusion of victory;
stop the vendetta
stop the bombing
stop the gunshots
stop the explosions;
stop the killing of innocent people
stop the soldiers from dying
stop the horror and terror
stop further devastation;
stop the zealous
stop the crimes
stop the sufferings of the people
stop and reconcile or surrender;
how long will you fight
how long will enmity prevail
how long will people sleep
in underground metros?
how many more homes will perish?
how many more cities and streets
will turn into ghost towns and be redundant?
how long will people hide and starve
how long will they live in discomfort?
will war bring peace or harm?
will war change age or time?
will war make young to run?
will war force the old to die?
will war make more people helpless
or will war end its reign
and let peace prevail,
or will war stop
and let life regain its former harmony
and its yesterday of solace and calm?
Ceasefire, ceasefire -
the only choice and the best alternative
as shattered are hearts and hopes
of families and children
as bombs after bombs keep exploding
destroying the cities;
and only two leaders can stop this war
and return to their people
the lost glory of peaceful existence;
uphold humanity,
uphold compassion,
uphold respect for life and not brutality.
