Uganda's Liberation Day Poem by Bamukunda Hillary

Uganda's Liberation Day

Rating: 5.0

Uganda's Liberation Day
.
For many acclaim it a holiday,
When it should be a holyday,
Praying for the unliberated souls,
Playing with the unliberated fowls,
The Uganda that never was,
Now it is.
.
The ten point program!
Was it worth hundreds of blood manure in luwero?
Was the liberation necessary?
Or the liberators were ought to die at it's helm?
.
That woman still dies giving birth
Her husband a target of loans officer
The son a target to Middle East worrying jobs
As the daughter is only hopeful
In shaking the hands of the president
Even if its just a dream
.
Who cried of hunger?
Our land and labour we gave,
To the cherished investor
For the skyscrapers.
I hear some ministers own them though.
.
The press is not censored
But incited to be centred.
The police will policy the policies
As the cells will seal the cereals.
Education for all
Electricity for all
Piped water for all
Who have access to taxpayers money.
.
But today it stands to be liberation day
We have discovered Rolex chapati
Bombardier airlines to carry our Albertine oil
Offices are bought with money not blood
Your lineage predicts your bright future
As the masses shout...
"steady progress ".
