My sister and one of her friends saw a UFO back in the fifties. They described it as a huge disc-shaped object with lights all around the edge that hovered just above them in the air for a few seconds (or minutes; I don't remember now) . There were two other girls with them that didn't see it because they were so frightened by the sudden bright lights they just screamed and hugged each other and didn't even look up.
My wife saw one about 1977. She was going west from Greeley, CO, and about by Kelim she saw it coming from north west. It had colored lights of many kinds around the edge. With 2 youngsters in the back, she didn't stick around to see where it went.
