Two Small Pebbles Poem by Martin Mc Carthy

Two Small Pebbles

Rating: 5.0

Two small pebbles washed up together
at the same time, in the same place,
after a whole tidewash of transformations;
two small pebbles named you and me.

We might call it a miracle,
or an accident - but, regardless,
the vastness of the sea still clings to us,
and we are close enough now to remember.

Beautifully done. So tight and so suggestive.

Closeness somehow activates the memory of vastness... a riddle only explicable by feeling.

What a pleasant poem! The coincidence of two strangers hitherto, coming together tethered to one-another by the bond of love… beautifully expressed. Loved it. To MyFavouritePoems
