SYNECDOCHE - that's the technical poetic term for an image in which a part stands for the whole. I love that word, and the concept behind it. For example, I could say, Those two brothers are so opposite: Rufus is all heart, helping everyone he meets but Lionel is just a billfold who wants all your money! Or to be poetic, I could do as you do, cite a lovely woman's eyes which keep us enthralled and promise the most wonderful happiness to the one she favors with her gaze. I am a believer in the woman you celebrate; she must have a lovely heart to match those lovely eyes. That makes her beautiful both inside and outside.
