Turbulent Time Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Turbulent Time

Turbulent time, how you have ravaged me,
With your waves of sorrow and despair,
You brought me to my knees, made me beg and plea,
As I struggled to breathe in your heavy air.

With each passing day, you took a piece of me,
Leaving me broken, shattered and torn,
An elegy for the person I used to be,
As I mourn the loss of what was once adorned.

You came with a force, I could not withstand,
And swept away all that I held dear,
Leaving behind only grains of sand,
As I clung to memories, filled with fear.

You showed me the power of your raging storms,
As I watched my world crumble and fall,
Leaving me to pick up the broken forms,
Of dreams, hopes, and promises all.

Oh, turbulent time, you have taken so much,
Leaving behind a trail of destruction and pain,
But I'll rise from the ashes, with a gentle touch,
And find strength within my sorrowful refrain.

For though you have tested and tried my will,
And left me with wounds that may never heal,
I'll carry on, with courage and skill,
For in me, the fire of resilience still reveals.

This elegy for the turbulent time I've known,
Is a tribute to the battles I've fought,
And though my scars may never be shown,
I'll stand tall, for I have not been brought.

Down by the turbulence you brought upon me,
For in the end, I've emerged stronger and wiser,
And though you may still try to break and defeat me,
I'll rise above, an elegy of a fighter.
