Tryst With My Shadow …debanjan Pan Poem by Debanjan Pan

Tryst With My Shadow …debanjan Pan

The blazing midday sun dwarfs my
shadow
an impotent wind carelessly breezes through
while I scan the shadow to look for me in him
Utterly disappointed, I failed to find me!
How could I lose my perfect, innocent
shadow?
How could it vanish with the juvenile
morning sun?
The limbs look terribly long,
the short, cretin shadow, in no way, resembles me,
I dodge to the right and the shadow mocks,
shifting to the left,
all the while, he stays tethered to my feet
like my incorrigible, inseparable twin!
The noontide sky scorches the leaves of
the curious, spectator tree
but little could it do to shake off the shackle
between us and.………
We keep on playing hide and seek
on the rooftop
that would soon see the sun ageing old!
