Trying To Find Elvis Poem by James Jennings

Trying To Find Elvis

We all remember the day he passed away
The stage wasn't the same without the King
The music lives on in his fans
Its hard to believe that so many believe he's alive
Hiding out somewhere across the border
A movie even got made about Elvis in a nursing home
Having a conversation with a black John Kennedy

There's so many still trying to find Elvis
Papers still publish pictures of people who resemble him
A new sighting becomes breaking news
Somebody says they saw him at some Texas Burger King
The person says he now has white hair and sometimes a beard

Youtube even published a video of Elvis supposedly walking the streets
I guess they haven't heard that he's left the building
The stage lights have gone off and the curtain has come down
Soon they'll be saying they saw Jim Morrison in France
Maybe even saw Hank Williams at the Opry

It's time to let the King rest in peace
Just sit back and listen to heartbreak hotel
Or watch his 1968 comeback special
Standing tall in that leather jump suit
Singing his songs and turning the women on with his moves
The King has left the building for good
