'Thulo Mama', as I loved to call you,
My dearest mother's eldest brother,
You were the heart and soul
Of one branch of the Mainali clan,
Descendents of Laxmi Prasad.
You lived your life wisely.
Your high moral values,
Your knowledge and experiences,
Your code of discipline,
Your love, care and affection,
Were your true strengths.
You were blessed with good fortune.
A dear son to hajurbuwa,
A caring husband to thuli maiju,
A good dad to your sons and daughters,
A loving grandpa to your grandchildren,
An affectionate older brother to my mother,
A true gentleman to the rest of us,
You lived your life wisely,
You dressed finely.
Your long Buddha-like ears,
Your deep and soothing voice,
Your calm aura,
Your charismatic smile,
You were a blessed man.
Eighty glorious years on earth,
You were a true gentleman.
You battled against an illness,
after your seventy-eighth birthday.
You were braver than the bravest I met.
Now you have left the earth scene.
Your soul is free of pain.
Farewell Thulo Mama,
until we shall meet again
someday in the afterlife.
