There are great lessons to learn from Banyan trees, they are all useful to everyone, I remember taking a swing across the roads and climbing straight to reach the stems. They are huge in size but humble and well grounded, they provide great place to take rest (for travellers) they live and see many generations. A brilliant poem on Banyan tree which is not very often seen near city life.10+++
O bargad O bargad k peD tum kitnay khhobsoorat ho khoobsoorti apni pradaan kartay ho wah doctor ji, wah wah!
Thank you Ravi for your beautiful translation in Hindi.
Man has only two arms, from one hand it takes and from the other he gives. A Banyan tree has so many arms, so many hands for giving only, like the ancient Mata Shakti, the source of all other Gods.
P.S. Geeta, another unique tree for me is the baobab which I have yet to see. Madagascar strikes me as a particularly interesting travel destination. -Glen
Madagascar sounds to me interesting too. A good holiday plan. :)
Part - 3 You teach me to look down with humility, You teach me to remain grounded and rooted, You teach me to sing with a silken voice of silent notes, You teach me to seek God through your divine presence. A beautiful devotional poem fairly executed.10
Part - 2 You have got immense pleasure and from this source you have composed this beautiful poem titled Tree 13 - Bonding With You O! Banyan Tree! The description is so touching and amusing. I here want to cite... You are my true teacher! O beloved Banyan!
Thank you so much Kumarmani ji. Yes, i truly feel tree is a teacher specially the majestic banyan tree.
Part - 1 I am glad that you have made a journy to the Ashtavinayak temples of Maharashtra.travelling through the interior villages. It was a nature trail. On your way you saw some fantastic Banyan trees and after getting down from your car you have took a picture of amazing Banyan tree which has been placed here for our enjoyment.
Hi, Geeta! Only in the period of my life as a young man living on Hawaii’s Big Island did I get to see a banyan tree. They are unique, so unlike any other tree I’ve seen up close. They deserve a song! -Glen
Glen, you should come to India. You will see plenty of Banyan trees. Thanks Glen for reading this poem.
This is such a beautiful poem which brings into focus the divinity that surrounds us all, the beauty that dwells in our heart and soul and seen in the bounties of nature. This exquisite portrayal of Banyan tree comes with its majestic presence as seen through the eyes of a keen beholder. Thanks for sharing this amazing poem, Geeta ji. You teach me to look down with humility, You teach me to remain grounded and rooted, You teach me to sing with a silken voice of silent notes
Rajnish ji, So good to see your beautiful review of the banyan tree. Absolutely, we need to be aware of the divinity surrounding us.

Part 3 And more. The bark of the tree has immense medicinal value, especially in treatment of skin conditions. It is part of “Naalpamaram” used to make “Naalpamaradi thailam “ and of “Panchavalkam” used as ingredient in Panchavalkadi Kuzhambu “, in Ayurveda prescriptions. So, I humbly bow my head before Banyan, whose life on earth is devoted to others.
Part 2 But, the fruit of such a majestic tree is so small, as if evidencing its humble being. In Delhi I have seen hundred to little parakeets crowding the trees to eat the tiny fruit, at the onset of summer. Your poem captivates my heart, may be because of the liking and wonder embedded in my mind. A 100 plus to MyPoemList
Hi Geeta, Banyan, of all trees has the most august appearance. It is seen all over India. In Kerala, of course, it is in abundance. I have seen Banyan trees in Delhi, Andhra, all over Tamilnad, Maharashtra, Rajasthan.. wherever..... It looks so spiritual, may be because of my Hindu mindset, where Banyan is connected to Lord Krishna. The Banyan leaf is so unique in its make and shape.
Hi Unni, Thank you for this wonderful, elaborate review of this poem. So much of information and knowledge. God bless you.
How can a tree like this not inspire a beautiful poem like the above?
Thank you Kostas. I was awe struck when i saw this tree.
Thank you for writing this! ! ! You teach me to look down with humility, You teach me to remain grounded and rooted, You teach me to sing with a silken voice of silent notes, You teach me to seek God through your divine presence.- - - - - - -perfect words, my dear!
