Tree 21 -Please Save The Aarey Trees! Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Tree 21 -Please Save The Aarey Trees!

Rating: 5.0

If you cut one tree, you have lost a shade.

If you cut ten trees, then you have lost
Its green leaves, pretty flowers and its juicy fruits.

If you cut hundred trees, you have lost Nature
And the wise Teachers.

If you have cut five hundred trees, you are changing
The seasons, the wind and the rains.

If you cut thousand trees, then you are depriving
The insects, the birds and the animals of
Their natural habitat and environment.
You are threatening their very existence.

If you are cutting two thousand trees,
Then, it is a grave interference with Nature,
Its Biodiversity,
And its Ecological system.

If you are cutting two thousand five hundred trees,
And more;
Then you are wiping out a whole forest.
Even Gods will cry with tears of sorrow.

Trees provide Oxygen. How will we live without oxygen?
Think about our children and the generations to come!

I think poetry is an excellent vehicle to express your psychological, humanitarian AND biological RAGE. It IS WRONG! And there MUST be a better solution! Beautiful but sadly true poem.

Cutting down trees is an unpardonable crime! It takes years for a tree to grow into its full stature. When we destroy a tree, we lose its shade, its flowers and fruits and above all a provider of life giving oxygen. As Joyce Kilmer the great poet says, a tree is a poem written by God! A great poem alerting us of the great deprivation we will suffer through felling trees!

" Please Save the trees! Save ‘Amchi' Mumbai and its people, Its Biodiversity.... And its Ecological system" .... It is high time the authorities looked at the dissenting voices or protests with open mind and broad outlook. Thanks, Geeta ji.
