A tree is a spiritual teacher! Your expression, "It's unmoved, even if cut by a woodcutter's axe/unscathed, even by the scorching heat of the sun/undeterred, even by those who pelt stones at them"…crystal clear (cont..)
Indeed adorable, sincere and spiritual teacher. There's so much to learn at a time when one feels so down and lost. A guiding force! Loved this one!

Dear Bharati, You are right! This poem is a tribute to a tree as a teacher. A noble teacher knows only to give and give. Thank you so much for your lovely comment Bharati. Stay blessed!
If only we were more like trees The world, a better place would be. You have given our life giving trees the attributes and honored place they well deserve. This poem, so pleasant and so well written.!
Thank you so much, Sandra, for stopping by to read this poem. Truly, a tree is a teacher. I have learnt a lot from the trees.
Trees are friends, guardians, teachers and they play so many roles... the cruel and brutal cutting down of trees is the greatest sin. I find it unbearable... and pray that it stops.
I wish people would realise what a blessing it is to have trees around us. Just two days ago, i saw a flowering tree being cut. The sight filled me with such sadness. Thank you Amar for being a friend of the trees.
Beautiful poem. A tree is a teacher, which give shades to many. Loved the concept. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you Geetha. I am so happy that you liked this poem and its concept.. God bless.
geeta, i myself have attempted something like this poem of yours but not completed it. in the town of corrales, nm not far from me, there are gnarled and twisted cottonwoods on either side of the road which make me think of wise elders. the earliest experience i had that i think of as spiritual was when i saw, really saw- as for the first time- a tree- a tree as a living being. two poetic references: are you familiar with joyce kilmer's poem trees? - if not, i think you'll like it. and are you familiar with the sonnet by e.e. cummings which begins, i thank you, God, for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees and a blue rue dream of sky... - if not, another poem i think you'll enjoy it as well. for beauty, glen kappy
Dear Glen, Thank you so much for this exhaustive comment. I learn so many new things from you. Just like the tree being a teacher, you too, are a teacher. Yes! Some trees do look like elders or wise men standing with dignity. i have read Joyce Kilmer's poem trees but not Cummings poem. I shall read them. Thanks again, for sharing so much of information and knowledge. Stay blessed always.

Hi Geeta, Hope you have read/heard of this Malayalam poem: thaan kotum veyil kondittum thanalekunnu thai maram. thaniykku veezhcha vannaalum nee anyannu thunaykkanam. This is the hardest lesson we should imbibe from the great teachers named trees. The trees, for that matter, all the plants, make the fruit, most often sweet and juicy, only for others to enjoy. And those who enjoy the fruit of their labour do not hesitate fell them, without a reason. And more often, the fruit is the reason for their demise. Very thoughtful poem from you philosophical pen. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing the Malayalam poem as well as your valuable comment.
