A nice and direct way to describe a state many, if not all, human beings find themselves in at some point in the course of their life. The poem certainly appears to the reader, in a quick and witty way. Nicely done.

This is a very frustrating state to find oneself in! An interesting philosophical quandry. I see the idea of progressing along a course that one knows has already completed, but unable to venture off in order to achieve progress. Thanks for sharing Sofia.

Treading Water. You don't pick easy topics, do you? Treading water can be just so mundane and boring, scarcely deserving thought much less a line of poetry. Yet, isn't treading water a survival technique? You're overboard and lost in the waves and what can you do? You tread water. It is hard. It is draining. It is hardly anyone's idea of a heroic act and yet it is. If we can tread that water, though we don't go forward we don't go down. Now see what you have gone and done- -you made me reflect on this phrase! Thank you. Sofia, for always inspiring thought with your beautifully poetic words

Maybe you are making progress when this insight of treading water comes to you. Motion in life is relative motion. When you stop walking maybe something else is coming toward you; maybe after a hiatus you will make better progress in your walking.

A lot of mixed metaphors but the point is well made.

Treading water is a slow process, taking time, giving us a chance to regroup and eventually get to where we're going. Great poem! 10+ Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

I like what you've done here. This speaks in volumes. As life. And a dream that constantly repeats itself. KW

There is either an allegory hidden in its lines or the process of an unpleasant dream. It evolves well and flows nicely! I enjoyed reading it!
