Traveling West Poem by Christopher Cariad

Traveling West

I want to be like those pioneers
That traveled west.
I want to suffer and thrive
From my hands alone.
Give my sweat and hard work meaning.
For I am building a home.
I'll do as the westerners do,
And live off the land.
Grow some cattle and
Buy a really fine saddle.
Sing during the winter
And plow during the summer.
Have a nice family
And not have to worry about this world around me.
Oh only if I traveled to the west.
