Traumatized Poem by Rowland Howells Ibifiri Orumbie

Traumatized

The fires of passion
Burnt down to it debris,
Heaps of ashes
And sparks extinguished
Too low
To light the way home.
Mind bearing the burden
Of being bound
To subjective poverty.
A big heart
Stuffed full of hurt
Stomach half full
Filled with a forever
Burning hunger
Pocket half Empty
With a void
Wide as the sky
And the whole wide
World.
A hole
Deep as the ocean
Which echos
Loud in the soul.
Life and lifelong
Die hard habits
Digging me deeper
Coming up shorter
And smaller
Whenever the pressure
Reaches new height,
Growing taller and bigger.
Tales of trauma
Written on each page
And every chapter
Of my childhood experiences.
