We are prisoners trapped in time
Who cannot break away.
And so we measure life in years
And count each wasted day.
But life's not there to quantify,
It's there for our delight.
When we can all step out of time,
We'll have the rhythm right.
Every hour's an iron bar
That runs along death row,
Where we all wait on our appeal,
Unsure how it will go.
But what has been our crime?
Why are we doing time?
What have we done to warrant this sad state?
Can you remember why
They left you here to die?
And who's the guard who locked that prison gate?
We are prisoners trapped in time,
Awaiting our release.
We're just existing till the day
Those ticking clocks all cease.
When we escape from time,
Get pardoned for the crime,
That circumstances forced us to commit,
Then we'll be learning how
To live eternal now.
When time runs out, who'll need to measure it?
