Tragedy Of Our Time Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Tragedy Of Our Time

Fears
Thumping beat in the gap
One love tune that transcends generations
A horse trot through time
Like a relay race of moral decadence
Troubled souls cannibalized by greed

In pursuit of rights, have they walked into sand storms
Can no longer tell who they are or what they are
Even though nature shouts it loud across the open skies
Surfaces of the wise gawk at them
Where fools are ‘woke' and prized
While free thought is in danger of extinction

The year 2020; shortest but eventful ever
Human resilience put to the test
Human ingenuity called to the fore
But craftiness and crass restrictions rod to the show instead
Leaving the spiritual footing of many exposed
WHO sang the piper's tune and we all got scared and fooled?

Great poem mukoma.2020 is/has been a year of regression. Isnt nature telling us something? That we have to remove artificial barriers and look after each other? Not that any one is listening. We plod on.
