Totally Silent Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Totally Silent

Totally Silent

I have travelled along the path less travelled
Came across sights and sounds not usually seen and heard
experienced sensations few will ever feel
And on my return tried to write poems seldom written

Along the path less travelled i ate what i gathered
Some fruits hanging low on branches whose trees i did not know
Wild berries growing by the roadside the paletteability of which i did not know
Drank water on stream banks of rivers whose sources i did not know

I met many along this unusual path
Most travelling in the opposite direction to me
Many feigning disinterest in my quest on this unusual path
and many eyeing my endeavours with disapproval as if they knew something i did not.

I saw unprecedented carnage on this path where man terminated man without conscience
Flora and fauna harvested without a thought for tomorrow
And worst of all when i wrote verses of what i saw and felt
those i met on the unbeaten track read my poems and went totally silent as if i existed on my own.
