This is a great series, Richard. Seems that you are trying to address Kerouac's embracing of Catholicism (after the experiment with Buddhism) . I've often wondered how much guilt and conservatism that triggered in his life....and whether or not he was, at the time, coping with his own pergatory on earth? Great work, Richard.
M.J., he was most definitely coping with his own purgatory on earth! His jail time was the straw that broke the camel's back. His father refused to bail him out. Etc.
Striving for succinctness in this Kerouac series is proving to be quite a challenge. Carl, thank you so much for your support and encouragement.
One dead sent to purgatory One living repenting in cell One dying to live in heaven....excellent poetic observation. Appreciated this thoughtful write. Top score!
Dillip, your positive constructive criticism of The Kerouac Project poems continues to motivate me to getting these books finally published. Can't Thank You Enough!
