Too Little Too Much Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Too Little Too Much

Too Little Too Much

Because i am who i am
the system expects unconditional acquiescence

from me to them

without blame
for the copious draughts of inequity
flowing always one way

from them to me

Like a poisonous gas
passing through a non return valve

from them to me

with gaskets tightened with a mental torque wrench

There will never be a possibility of it ever flowing the other way

from me to them.

Like a protestant i have protested
only to be lynched in the court of public opinion
fuelled by volumes of propaganda publications

protestations and contestations falling on dead ears
akin to speaking in a vacuum.

I have to accept
i must accept
prescriptions whose labels of descriptions i am not privy to

not by virtue of illiteracy
but by virtue of being who i am

I, being who i am

in their book of gook de gook
i deserve the little that i get
the little that they give

from them to me

always giving
not in my favour
Too little too much
