Today's Poets Poem by DM W

Today's Poets

Rating: 4.5

Poets have now been thrust to the edge of the world,
As endless, asinine images and sounds have
Replaced the power and the glory of the Word.
Broken voices are drifting on the winds of chance.
Incoherent fragments compete for attention.
Labyrinthine realms lead to nowhere it appears.
There are cracks in the old order of Creation.
We observe a circus of bizarre hopes and fears.
Poets have now been thrust to the edge of the world,
As the vulgar and the noxious court the absurd.

Dominic a few years ago poetry was on the rise so I quickly informed my bank manager and then he read my poetry and quickly froze my account. Your well written poem tells of its woes but I have hopes it will again reach its deserved sunny heights. Five stars and thanks for sharing. Take care.

'Broken voices are drifting on the winds of chance. Incoherent fragments compete for attention.' - Loved these two beautiful lines of your poem. Very well written.
