To Travel The Open Road! Poem by Namratha Swamy

To Travel The Open Road!

Rating: 5.0

Tired of living in a concrete jungle,
my eyes search for the open sky,
the sway of the green trees,
the colours of the butterflies.

The freshness of the rivers and lakes,
the dew on the moist glistening grassblades,
the scent of the earth as it softly rains,
I miss them all in these alleys and ways.

My mind travels across to the sea and waves,
to the peaks of ice-capped mountains,
to the meandering hills and lakes,
My heart yearns for the falling snow flakes.

Things I may not know or tell
wait for me where old waters swell
under the skies deeper than mine,
where quiet valleys dip and shine,
where tender grasses heal
the old scars of trench and pain.

If I ever seek a meaningful part,
where I would travel goes my heart;
Breaking the shackles of yesterday,
Soaring the skies of today,
healthy, free, the world before me.
I want to take the open road.
Yes, I want to travel the open road, the open road in front of me!

Living in nature gives peace to the mind; One should enjoy the bounty of nature away from the chaos of the city life. Very nice. Enjoyed.
