To The Lighthouse Poem by Richard Theze

To The Lighthouse

Rating: 5.0

Wave across waves,
Through salted spray
And the rolling swell
Of a February sea,
To the lighthouse
At dawn.

The view,
A timeless seascape,
Unchanged,
Yet changing
Second by second,
Minutely,
As the quality of light
Alters hues
And patterns,
Adding depth
To perspective;
And rocks reduced
Grain by tiny grain,
Wash as sand upon
A nearby beach.

This, the erosion
Of centuries of
Painstaking creation,
Leaves behind
A fleeting
Mixed masterpiece
Of sculpture,
Of water-colour,
And the digital
Impression
Of a once-in-a-
Lifetime moment;
Captured by the artist
For posterity.
