To Readers

Reflect me not, as another
image in water

Remember me not, as stranger
come and disappear

Forget me not, in some year
open this letter

Miss me not, in this letter
i'm your another

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Seamus O Brian 22 November 2016

I see in the first half of this poem conditions being set out, parameters addressed before we come to the heart of the issue. the heart that cannot be touched by someone who only sees you as a reflection, or is on the periphery of relationship. Having become part of the inner circle of the subject, the object is not to forget, and even in absence, not to miss. The letter has draws a bridge across two hearts. Or so I see it as I look at these intriguing characters. :)

You give us four images of your self which are fresh and specific. You both tell us about yourself and also create a sense of mystery. Who is this person who wants us to remember her? I find this poem to be an ideal introduction of yourself to encourage readers to read more.

I grew up with those Chinese poets you mentioned, father used to force me to recite their poems, now i truely love those words. If you have time, you can try some Qu Yuan and Zhuang Zhou i guess, they are my favorite two. The feeling of getting connected with those past great ones make the voices of this century dare to claim their sky!

You have the healthiest of obsessions in wanting to hear the voices - read the words of the great poets of the world. I admit to having read many traditional Chinese poets - I know intimately Tu Fu, Li Po, Wang Wei (a special poet to me) , more recently, Li Shangyin. I love to read them. But when I clicked on your poems, I was delighted to read your fine lyric poems as a contemporary Chinese poet. This is your century, Anne Yun: Let your generation be heard through your voice, your poems.

Because i found many many poets and writers that i respect encouraged readers to read more through their words, Shakesphere, Tagore, Pushkin, they all did that, like passing legacy to the new comers. I am obssessed with their voices.
