To My Parents Poem by Shraddhanand Srivastava

To My Parents

Descended in a family down to earth
with it's treasure of faith deeply rooted
in our age old sacred thoughts
of the nation's peerless sages.

Upbrought by the simple forward and ideal parents,
inseminated in me th' moralistic seeds
which they had in themselves inherent.

Entertained they for me,
a higher, noble vision of my life unlike many among the blind folk, who
through their own deeds brew the plight.

Never did they let me experience
in my life any kind of strain,
however, they put themselves before
as an armour against the pain.
Though the resources were the minimum,
they toiled hard and made available
for us the things optimum.

They, to me, provided the best
concerning the food, cloth and education,
for all these I get bedewed my eyes
with tears of obligation.

Blessed am I
they made me the competant,
a lecturer who strives to lead
a life calm and restraint.
Howsoever I endeavour
throughout the night and day,
of our parents'virtuous deeds,
in my life I can't ever repay.
