To Hank Williams
I'm so lonesome I can cry
Yes, that Hank Williams song is
Echoing through my brain
Here, with only a dog to talk to
It's driving me mad
All he wants to do is sleep
So, I must crawl beside him
And do either watch TV or read a book
I'm so lonesome I can cry
I want to discuss a celebrity who died yesterday
Or tell a joke
But being isolated, I feel like I'm in jail
I feel so lonely
I want this pandemic over
I want the sun shining on my face
And the spring breeze drying my tears
I'm so lonesome
I'm so...
I can die
My favorite song of Hank's is 'Your Cheatin' Heart' and I have that one totally memorized. I wish I could be there to sing it to you.
Cowboy, I also have that song memorized. I sang it on stage at an assembly at school when I was still a teacher. We should get together and sing a duet!
LeeAnn, a marvelous poem about one of my favorite singers, but mostly about loneliness. Hang in there; the pandemic can't last forever and someday we will all be able to go out it the sunshine or even sing in the rain!
A sad, beautiful and wonderfully rendered song will definitely affect our mood and feelings.
I hope this loneliness shall come to pass and this pandemic will be over soon. A beautifully crafted poem with wonderful poetic expressions.

Great poem, LeeAnne! I love Hank Williams, and not just because he is a not-too-distant cousin! I can sing most of his songs, and people tell me I sound pretty good.
