This is a exceptionally well written and beautifully expressed poem, Whitney, and one that tells a fascinating story. I liked your imagery and phrasing in this fine poem very much. A lot of poets are a bit squeamish about using dialog in a poem, but you didn't mind it a bit, and did an outstanding job in conveying the two people's words in this poem very effectively. Very beautiful. So many women (men too) decide that 'freedom' is better than being in a relationship. What they do not realize is that love gives you freedom in more ways than rejecting it ever could!
