To Be Immersed In The Desires Of The Heart, Unfeigned Poem by Mark Heathcote

To Be Immersed In The Desires Of The Heart, Unfeigned

Everyone wants to suck the honey from a honeycomb.
Everyone wants their picture taken atop the Eiffel Tower.
And dine out 'en plein air' and be thoroughly entertained.
To be immersed in the desires of the heart, unfeigned
Everyone wants a stylish Parisian man for a lover.
or a Parisian woman with a little bit of va-va-voom,
Everyone wanted to smoke French cigarettes at school.
Paris had movie status back in the day, and it was cool.

Everyone wants to drink. Dom Perignon Champagne
Everyone wants to taste Sturia Beluga caviar.
After which, everything will be tedious and mundane.
Everyone wants a guided tour of the famous Louvre.
To stand inches away from a masterpiece
A Cézanne, a Gauguin, a Matisse

Everyone wants a little bit of fantasy.
Everyone wants a little bit of extravagance
Everyone wants a departure from reality.
Because somewhere deep inside, we're all romanticists.
