To Be A Marine Poem by Britney Garlich

To Be A Marine

Rating: 5.0

To Be a Marine, what does that mean…?

To be a marine; the strongest, most courageous and only a select few.
But to everyone else we can only imagine all of the wonders they do.

Admirable, determined, and all together amazing
Unfortunately sacrifices must come with every wonderful thing

Leaving Friends and family to master that “perfect aim”
But loved ones will go on and watch as you achieve your fame

Standing on the front line, pursuing all you believe in
Ask someone who knows- I know They’d do it all again

The criteria is one, that not everyone can even begin to see
Fighting Against all the toughest to be all that you can be

You’ll walk through life with a new meaning, your head will be held high
You’ll have a new respect for everything you’ll carry till the day you die

A boy becomes a man and his fear is replaced with pride
Priceless is the feeling of fighting on the winning side

No tears allowed, only replaced with blood and sweat
To us we cant imagine, to a marine that’s merely a threat

There’s nothing like a marine, well isn’t that true
They know and see things others will never get to do

Deadly with weapons but loving in life- a marine never forgets
A Life of solitude maybe isn’t worth it but marines hold no regrets

Miles away but so near in a loved ones heart
Its only the beginning, but the end of a brand new start

Shouting more than ever but learning to be a gentlemen
Fighting a battle in hell while living to reach heaven

Trained as a battle weapon and fighter, but raised as a lover
His emotions aren’t gone, there just kept strictly undercover

You can love him or hate him, either is considered a win
With a 2,000 yard stare and a very well hidden grin

To be a marine is beyond words, knowing one is a blessing
Blessings come in disguise, to be a marine is amazing

He can be your terrible nightmare, or one of your sweetest dreams
He is and will be for always a United States Marine
