In a forest of shattered souls
The child lay weeping
She wept for broken promises
And love no longer keeping.
Upon an ocean of discarded prayers
The young woman lay crying
She cried for forgotten memories
And wishes that were dying.
Amongst the shifting dunes of time
The mother wondered, her eyes dry
She knew the past could never change
No matter how she might try.
Above the world of passion and sorrow
The old lady slept, on her lips a smile
She'd travelled the world knowing wonder and heartbreak
And now it was time for her to rest a while.
