Backwards, take me backwards
Take me backwards Oh Time
To the days of innocence
And the world of rhymes
To the carefree days
And the carefree ways
When skipping and jumping
Was part of our gait
When building sand castles
And collecting sea shells
Were favourite pastimes
Under the afternoon sunrays
When mother was so lovely
And father was so strong
And brothers and sisters
Were the closest of friends
Take me backwards Oh Time
When we dreamed of growing up
Doing all the wonderful things
Being done by grown ups

I too have written many poems expressing the very same wish! When we think of those innocent and carefree days of childhood, we wish to retrace our steps and indulge in those funny and adventurous pastimes. But we discern that those days of fun and frolic are gone forever. You have indeed created a strong feeling of nostalgia in me.
Thank you, Valsa, for the wonderful comments!
