Those Eyes. Poem by MIRAK Montiel

Those Eyes.

Those Eyes

Those eyes used to hunt me
in the space between dreams,
every night.

And even though you were never mine,
when we were together,
reality slipped away.
In a perfect world,
there was only you and me—
everything else faded.

Every touch,
every kiss,
every spot on your skin
felt new,
though I had kissed you
a hundred times before.

Your eyes—
hazel, like autumn leaves—
perfect in their stillness.

We went separate ways,
loved different people,
but this love...
it never left.

It lives
locked in the safe of my heart,
and in a dreamscape in my mind—
a world just for us,
and those beautiful eyes.
