Those days which were by sunlight blessed
Which were by sweetness full caressed
Are now consumed by shadowed time -

Wonderful musicality, rhythm and content. The 4 seasons review with poetic taste and beauty like is your style. Yes, nature does produce the miracle of rebirth, except for us. As usual 10/10
Hi Valerie, great write....although my perception might be somewhat influenced by the past several days wherein we've endured -20C temperatures here. And overnight, each night just enough snow that the driveway needed to be scraped. Here the cold endures until late February but then with March, warming starts and one knows spring is just around the corner. Cheers & all the best over 2014!
An allegory of seasons! ! ! Those days...nostalgia for seasons is always there with us...in chilling moments we think of the warmth of summers, and when summers get never ending we dream of the winter... but other than the surface structure seasons are always the tools of symbolists and transcendentalists to talk about the phases of life...the days gone by are so stuck in our memories that we build our present n future on these very foundations...as all said here, your poems have a melody of syllables, never faltering, never breaking, never changing, but always on the same rhythm... But seasons turn as seasons will And though the Winter lends its chill The time shall come when Mother Earth Will bring her bounty of new birth.
Val, I can't get away from the music of your words when I leave your pages of poems.I'm obsessed! Happy New Year to you!
A beautiful discourse on the change of seasons. Yes the winter brings on long nights and some dark and gloomy days but there are brighter days up ahead. Snow will melt, Fall will get left behind, Autumn will cease and Spring will bloom! Well done Valerie.
Can you imagine what a huge power, what a major living force is hidden in those bare trees that suddenly seem to come alive in spring. This power, this force of spring is also part of us 'cause it is the power of God that resides everywhere in nature and also in each human. If I feel down for whatever reason, I tend to think about this huge hidden life power of spring, hidden also in my veins, I try to feel it in my heart and gloom is soon crumbling under this huge force. These days must be not easy for you, Val, but I am so happy to read this poem of yours which is full of hope for brighter days. I pray for your strength and wish the very, very best for the new year.
So beautiful blending the farewell images of passing year turning its gradually darkening face and with the change there's the coming of New Year! Superb imagery! Worth 10

splendid work Miss Dohren, this was a portrait captured with amazing imagination, those days are gone, but the seasons change and as they change something returns but comes back in a new form reincarnation of a new spirit in an old form. We all have sad songs, so lets sing along
