Thomas Merton's Anguish Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Thomas Merton's Anguish

Rating: 5.0

I no longer
Have such once faith
My eyes blinded
By devil's light

I no longer
See the sparkin'
In the lightnin'
Of believin'

I no longer
Hear the roar
Of such thunder
Of great power

I no longer
Able to touch
The face of love
In dance of life

I no longer
Feel passion
For labour done
For goals propelled

This is one of the beautiful poems of Thomas Merton Series. It is well written on depression and hopelessness. Thanks for sharing here.

Kumarmani, this response means so very much to me. In reading one of Merton's biographies, I was very deeply moved by the amount of hopelessness he had experienced. And in spite of it all, how much he had successfully accomplished! Thank you so much for such invaluable feedback!
