This Too Shall Pass Poem by Raimi Babatunde

This Too Shall Pass

Rating: 5.0

For fear of retribution
They gagged Africa
They move about like evil geniuses
Stole and sat on our commonwealth
Yet, they move above freely
With a swagger stick like a General
The blood you shed will speak

What beclouds the plague of hunger?
Suffering and smiling as "Abami Eda" said
Who are these mortals assuming immortal frames?
Like death is a dance only for the oppressed
Can this plague outshine that of hunger?
Your guess is as good as mine
Yet they gag and take away our freedom

Just like others this too shall pass
And when it does I'll hug and kiss again
Then our hospitals will have a toga of Gucci
We'll also appreciate nature in its purest forms
New entrepreneurs shall rise therefrom
Let us unite and fight this war
Hoping "Eledumare" will hear our cries
And this gag will be "offed" in no time
