if by chance you happen
to love poetry,
always remember the happiness
that it gives you,

something that caresses you
but you cannot touch back,
someone that kisses you but
you can only close your eyes
and when you open them, there
is no one there.

after all, it has promised you
nothing,
but your love for the word, and
nothing but for the word that is.

it is the air that you breathe,
goes inside you, and you feel the
whole world inside it, and then it
is exhaled, and it is the emptiness
again that makes you remember, what
is love all about, what is poetry all
about.

it is what you feel, it is what you
have not seen, it is what you think
you have touched, but have not touched
at all.
