This Little Lantern Of Mine by Andrew W.K. Yip

This little lantern of mine,
This little light,
Alone in the quiet darkness glow and shine,
Still bring cheer and warmth like daylight.

Won't you feel the pain that creeps into darkness at ease?
Won't you flicker and shiver with your tiny flare,
Stir the stillness of the night with the slightest breeze,
Still stare with the glow and flame that care?

This little lantern of mine
Fly and flutter in the sky,
Climb high, soaring and sliding with a line,
Tremble in the wind up high.

Oh, little lantern light,
Now you wander in the clouds so bold.
Tell the crowd of lanterns, so colourful and bright:
"Let's light up the sky and turn the darkness gold."

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The lantern is a symbol of Wisdom and Enlightenment. All over the World people celebrate the Lantern Festival each year on the 25th day of the Lunar New Year. The lantern light helps to light up the sky and paints the darkness in the sky gold. As a small lantern it gives warmth and comfort in the dimness and darkness of the night.
